Echinodorus bleheri is commonly known as Amazon sword plant, although other plants are also known under this common name. The plant is cultivated for and used in freshwater aquariums.

Although this species was originally described as Echinodorus bleheri, the correct name is Echinodorus bleherae. The original name includes a grammatical mistake that should be corrected according to the botanical code. However, according to the latest studies E. bleherae is just a synonym to Echinodorus grisebachii.
Description
An aquatic plant with submergent leaves 40 - 60 cm long attached by petioles flatly triangular. Leaf blades are lanceolate or narrowly oval.
Distribution
E. bleherae is known from the Amazon Basin, and was first exported as an aquarium plant in the 20th century from Brazil. It is now cultivated widely for wholesale.
Cultivation
E. bleherae propagates by division or adventitious plantlets.
